Computer ignoring boot sequence

I'm trying to do a fresh install of windows XP on a fairly old computer(still uses IDE loooooool) and when i set the boot sequence to cd drive it always boots to the HDD instead, what exactly is causing this? I've spent quite some time playing with the boot sequence but i couldn't get anything to work.

At first i thought there was something wrong with the CD but it works perfectly fine in ever other computer i tryed it with.

does the CD drive work?

disconnect the HDD and see if the CD boots.

When you say it works in other computers do you mean it will boot on other computers or just that you can see the files on the disk?

It sounds like the drive isn't working properly or the CD isn't bootable.
