Bios not detecting hdd

Hi,

I just fitted a samsung 500gb sata hdd, but it does not show up in the bios.
I have a Gigabyte p35-d3sl mb, with the latest chipset drivers.

The thing is , is that the old hdd that i have just taken out (120gb maxtor sata) works just fine.

Therefore it can't be a problem with other hardware or wires etc ?

I also noted that the led light just stays on, without flickering when i have the new hdd in.

can anyone help please ?

I would try formatting the new HD with the installation CD.
