Need a workaround - no molex in my case!?

Hi everyone, I know this has been covered.. ish, but I could use some extra opinions.

I have a Dell Dimension E520, and I just bought a Geforce 8600 GTS as it's the best that can physically fit in my case.. I've done plenty of looking around (mostly on here) and knew I needed an adapter to get enough power to the card, which I have.

BUT, when I opened up the case to put the card in, I noticed to my horror that there are NO 4-pin molex connectors male or female in there.. none at all. I should've noticed that before, but it never occurred to me that my machine would be even more pathetic than I originally thought! (nothing EVER works for me...)

SO anyways, I've done a lot of thinking and come up empty as to what I can do in terms of a workaround.. so here's some pictures of the inside of my case:

And here's my system specs:

Hopefully someone will have some ideas :)

Thanks!

Mmmm, I've tried a LOT of places including maplins, but so far that's the only place selling it.. I'll keep ploughing through sites for a while yet though.

eBay to the rescue! It should arrive in 1-2 days :)

If it works, thanks everyone in advance!

If not.. then I'll be back here crying for help again :p

The adapter I saw in the pics won't do what you say you need to do. That adapter is intended to power drives, not video cards, etc. It converts a connector intended to power a SATA drive to a connector that powers the older IDE style drives. So, unless I'm completely missing something here you're still in the same situation. Have you considered replacing the power supply with a PS that has the appropriate connector? Since this is a store bought machine that may not be possible unless the manufacturer offers such a PS. If this were a home built upgrading would be much simpler.

Exactly what he needs to be able to use the molex to pcie power dongle provided with his card.
It is upgradeable with almost any standard ATX unit.

Actually, it works just fine! Miracle cure that lil adapter is.. :)

I needed it to hook the card up to the PSU, but had no molex. That adapter let me use a spare SATA connected to the PSU as a sort of go-between. Also, swapping out a PSU requires actual concentration, so hell no to that! :p

Thanks all!
