I'm considering upgrading my power supply just so I can have the peace of mind that my PC isn't over exerting itself. But I figure if I'm going to upgrade my PSU, I might as well plan for the future while I'm at it.

My current specs are:

Disk drive - Sony Optiarc DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model AD-7241S-0B LightScribe Support

Processor
- AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor

Motherboard - MSI K9A2 CF-F V2 AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard

Video card - MSI R4890-T2D1G OC Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - OC Edition

RAM - OCZ Fatal1ty Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2F10664GK

Hard drive - Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

Monitor
- ASUS VH226H Black 21.5" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor

Case - NZXT Beta Series CS-NT-BETA-B Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Extra fan - 120mm Antec Tricool LED fan

I could see myself in the future adding another hard drive, and possibly another disk drive. But more importantly I want the option of using two 4890 crossfire video cards. So my question is, would a 650w Corsair power supply be sufficient for these future upgrades? Is the 750w really worth the extra 20 or so dollars?

One thing I noticed is that the 650w only comes with 2 PCI connectors. However, video cards come with PCI adapters. The question is whether or not using a PCI adapter rather than a PCI connector straight from the power supply affects quality. Does it?

So what do you think? 650w or 750w? Why?

For CF 4890s, I'd be tempted to go for the 750. The 650 would work just fine, but I like to run PSUs at well under their rated spec most of the time. It would also depend on the price difference between the two - if it is fairly small, there's no point to getting the 650, but if it is large, the 650 might be the better choice.

What are you talking about?!
8 pin plugs for gpu can become 6 pin so 650 W can handle the 4890.
