I am experiencing a problem

For some reason in command prompt, when I try to format a blank dvd-r, it comes up saying "Cannot format. This volume is write protected." What can I do to be able burn the blank dvd-r?

  1. You do not need to format dvd-r ,,only dvd-rw's might need formatting, just go ahead and write to the sucker...:)
  2. I am unable to, as a result of the drive saying that it has 0 gb of memory left, when I know that I have never used the disk before. And the disk is a new disk.
