Window xp printer wizard doesn t have my printer

Trying to add my HP OfficeJet Pro 8500a to my computer, but the wizard does not have the model. I've tried the windows update more than once.

First, disconnect your printer from the PC.

Download the drivers from here and install them. Connect the printer once prompted to.

See if that works.

You need to download and install the HP driver. Just go HP.com, search for your printer, then go to the driver page. I would have provided a direct link, but the HP site is acting up right now. . .
