will the new am3 cpu AMD Sempron 140 Sargas SDX140HBGQBOX work in this older mobo GIGABYTE GA-MA74GM-S2. its not in the cpu list but the cpu is like less than a month old to so.

It should work since the mobo supports AMD Phenom. the Sempron is just like a cut-up Phenom II, so I'd suppose so.

It's actually just an Athlon II X2 with one core disabled. It's an AM3 compatible board so it should work just fine. You might need a bios update but I doubt you'd even need that.

yeah that's true, just no L3 cache. I'm not sure if this board has ACC, but I've read people with a 785G chipset board and other ACC capable boards have successfully unlocked the 2nd core, effectively giving them a 2.7ghz Athlon II X2. Not bad for $40.

785G = SB 710

780G = SB 700/710

SB710 = ACC
