First of all OMG. OK.
I have a Precision 340 motherboard with 3.0 P4 I got off of ebay for 29.99 out the door. Great price I know.
I don't know how I'm going to put it in a non dell case. I'm sure its possible but I have yet to acquire the knowledge to do so. Please please help me. I just want to play CS.

So far I've saved a bundle
29.99-MB/CPU
39.99-6800 Ultra
19.95-1gb ram
9.95 SB HD sound card
21.99 160gb 7200 Seagate (thats a steal)

TO buy list
23.99 LG DVD Burner
TBA power supply.

I already have a case and another 80gb WD. So Im sittin high on the hog thus far.
Now If I can make sure I can get the stupid motherboard in my case I'll be fine. Worst comes to worst Ill just let it sit inside the case attached to nothing. I dont give a f*ck.

From what i understand here are your mobo specs:
http://www.shopping.com/xPF-Dell-P [...] -WS340DSBE
AGP and running on RDRAM
For just CS you'd be looking to find a 2nd hand 1650/7600 agp? The key is to ascertain if that mobo is of BTX form factor cos if it isn't then you are gold in terms of transplanting it to a non Dell casing hehe

What case do you have? And what are the dimensions on that MB? From my limited experience reusing dell parts, the MB's use the same mounting holes as a regular mATX board, but are a bit wider, and dell cases come with some extra standoffs to attach the MB (My experience comes from a Dell Dimension 4600). The standard mounting standoffs that you find in any case though should fit at least some of the holes on the MB, you just need to make sure that the motherboard tray in the case you are putting it in has a large enough area for the motherboard

I can only assume it is a 340 motherboard because well I have a picture from the ebay auction -> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d [...] 0416109319
And then I coincidently came across this picture while tooling around on pricewatch

Also found another spec & pic here towards bottom of page

They "look" to be the exact same.

The case that it is going into is a pretty good sized tower. About 3-4 slots in the front for cdrom and what have you.. I want to say that the motherboard is made by intel and is ATX. I'm pretty I've foundone source suggesting so but I'll look for some repetition in data to confirm.

I was under the impression that the slot sliding thingies dell has attached to the motherboard could be removed.
