I am planning on building a new system about the time that Windows 7 is released since I want to do a fresh install and it would be a good time. I am planning to buy a Phenom II X-4 955 Black Edition CPU and a Asus Crosshair III Formula Motherboard. I will have one Seagate 1 TB internal Hard Drive and one LG DVD Burner. I have a EVGA Nvidia 8800GT Video Card that I am hoping to use for awhile until DirectX 11 Video Cards are out. My current sytem Power Supply is a Fortron Source ATX 400W 20/24 pin Power Supply, w/SATA & 12cm Fan, model FSP400-6oTHN-R - OEM. I do want to overclock but not push things to extreme or have to use anything more than air cooling.
My Question is.......do I need a new Power Supply and how much Power should I need?.......I'm thinking I might need around 600 Watt Power Supply......any suggestions?
Corsair, pc power and cooling, antec, seasonic, ocz and enermax are usually safe bets. Check newegg for rebates; look at the 12v rail amps; 40 is the minimum I would go with. If your ps has more than one 12v rail, then add them together to get at least 40.
if its not one of the real power pro, or the UCP series then I would be very hesitant to go with Cooler Master..look at Corsair's line up, its top notch in quality
