Hi ,

I m building a new system and the configuration is as follow:

Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor1 Q9550 (2.83GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 12 M L2 cache)
Corsair-6 GB 800 MHz Dual-Channel DDR SDRAM (2-2048MB modules & 2-1024MB Modules)
Seagate - 750GB 7200rpm Serial ATA II/300 hard drive with 32MB Cache
Intel System board – DP45SG
LG - 18X DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti Drive
Cooler Master HAF 932 cabinet
Cooler Master Power Supply – Real Power Pro 650 Watts
Logitech 540 (5.1) Speakers
ATI Radeon™ HD 4850 with 512MB Discrete Video Memory
BenQ E2200 HD 22 inch LCD Monitor

Now I am in a dilemma about:

1. DDR2-800Mhz or DDR3-1033 Mhz
2. 6 GB RAM => 2 X 2048MB modules & 2 X 1024MB Modules or
3 X 2048MB modules
3. Cooler master HAF 932 (Full tower ) or CM 690 Nvidia edition (Mid tower)
4. Gaming Keyboard and mouse???

Please suggest me your valuable opinions.

Thanks in advance
Max

1) 6 GBs of RAM is a lot...you really only need 4GBs and if you are going to overclock your system, you will need PC2 8500 (DDR2- 1066) or PC2 9600 (DDR2-1200) or higher DDR3's

2) Try looking for a 20X or 22X optical drive on newegg, they are still cheap. I would recommend Sony ^_^

3) For graphics, i'm not sure if you will be gaming a lot or not...otherwise you can keep that one for normal applications.

4) What resolution monitor are you looking for?

5) The cooler master HAF 932 OWNZ!! I would get that in a heardbeat...but thats just me. The 690 is great too, but if you are air cooling you might want to look at the 932 ^_^

6) The Razor Lycosa keyboard and mouse are not bad at all...or Logitechs are fine (I have had logitech for years but mine are wired...can't deal with wireless bs right now)

You can't use DDR2 with the DP45SG. It only supports DDR3.

Change the motherboard to GA-EP45-UD3P and the power supply to Corsair 650TX.

Get this G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2-800. Either one set (4GB) or two sets (8GB).

Between the HAF and the CM 690, I'd prefer the HAF.

Good call on the RAM, i was thinking of another board...oops ^_^

Go DDR3 1333 or better

I forgot to mention, about the RAM: if the machine is just for gaming one set of 4GB is enough.

Also, get a 64-bit OS. Win 7 RC is a free download, and will work until March 1, 2010. Or buy Windows Vista Home Premium OEM 64-bit ($100 at Newegg IIRC)

With the GA-EP45-UD3P you can add a second HD 4850 card if one doesn't do well enough. (Mind you, the DP45SG has that feature too.)

We're going to confuse the OP totally.

DDR3 + DP45SG is fine, DDR2 + GA-EP45-UD3P is fine too. No mixing, OK? Don't try DDR2 with DP45SG or DDR3 with the GA-EP45-UD3P.

As others have mentioned you do not need more than 4gb ddr2 memory ram for a 775 or am2+ socket motherboard. Save the Money!

For I keyboard and mouse I would strongly suggest the g11 or g15 keyboard with the g9 mouse if you can afford them. I have the g11 keyboard and g9 mouse and they are absolutely awesome. One of the best keyboards and mouses that money can buy!!

Godd Luck with your new Build Deep111!

First, whats your real budget?

if it's enough to buy a good Q9550 then you should be able to slip in a i7 build since the cpu's are a $10 difference..

what will you be using the system for?
what brand GPU? xfx is recommended due to longer warranty
You could get the black 640gb WD
Will you be overclocking? then you might need an after market cooler such as this
( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... )
and i am sure i would go along with the opinions from above. especially the one about changing your power supply to the 650TX
about the ram, the most anyone normally needs 4gb. ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... )

1. ddr2.. ddr3s are too pricey and give you little performance benefit over the ddr2s..

2. whichever is cheaper:D

3. do you need more space?.. if not, which do you think gives you more ventilation? you decide..

4. cheap logitech mouses and keyboards would do:D

You dont have a monitor just yet. So you can build a neat am3 build for cheap and get a good 22" or 24" IMO.

More future proof for upgradability.

or

squeeze in a i7 build and get a cheap 22"...
