If you want to cut down the price a little, check for some combo deals with the processor and motherboard. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] =10&page=1

Also, I'm no expert, but it looks like you would be fine with a this PSU... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] air%20650W Saves you about $50 after rebate

$30 combo looks good, as for psu gonna stick w/ original, wanna get modular since case is fairly compact.

Some more ways to cut the price-
Do you need 1TB of memory? If not maybe 500gb or 640gb?
You can probably find some combo processor/motherboard deals for about 220-260 if you look into the AMD Phenom II X3 720 BE or AMD Phenom II X4 940 instead of the 955. I'm not sure how much difference you'll see in performance(but I bet theres somebody on the forums who can tell you)
Instead of the Cooler Master Scout case, you could look into the Antec 300. Would save another $50 or so.

Just some ideas to consider!

EDIT - If you go to the 940 or 720 you can also drop the RAM to DDR2 which would save another $20 or so

found a cheaper case i like with a cleaner look. lian li lancool case.

also went with your advice on phenom II 720BE. 100 bucks isn't worth performance differences right now.

new Subtotal: $965.90

question though, can anyone say for sure whether the xigmatek dark knight will fit into this case or not???

If you're going to swap out for a X3 then heres a nice combo deal that should drop the price quite a bit. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Comb [...] mbo.190738

Also, you really won't see much increase in performance between DDR3 and DDR2. This would save you some money, but its up to you. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820227267

You don't need anywhere near that much power, and the TX is not modular. Corsair HX520 would be a good choice.
