Hi there all,

Do any of you guys know how to uninstall Direct X ver.8.1b (4.08.01.0579) (on 98SE) its a beta version, and is working alright except it has expired , and I'm constantly getting this message - "Microsoft DirectDraw , Beta DirectDraw Expired , Please Update" when I play UT or use my browser.

I cant update it, there is no freaking new version at Microcrap and reinstalling it makes no difference.

I also tried installing the previous versions (4.08.00.0400 and 4.07.00.0716) but they wont take. Also downloading from Windoze Update makes no difference either.

Thanx in advance.

No good,

I tried it,"No Packages Available for Uninstall" is the message I get.

I know that Direct X is a very important core component in the Windoze operating system, and I should have known better than to install a Beta copy of such an key item.

Any more suggestions please anyone.

Maybe I should post this in the Games section as well?

Thanx anyway!

Unfortunately, I'm not finding much information on trying to uninstall DirectX to a previous version. Perhaps, first trying to install Windows over itself. Then, install DirectX 8.0a (non-beta).

I wish I can find a better way than backing up, reformatting, and reinstalling Windows. But, my previous suggestion doesn't work, then this might have to be your last resort.

Don't pay any attention to my chickenscratch.

Fixed it.

Anyone having this problem can download the uninstaller at www.directxbuster.de (thanx Red Zealot). It is use at own risk - I had no problems with it though.
