Are there any problems w/ running an external power supply? I want to upgrade my graphics card but will need to also upgrade my psu...unfortunately I have a Dell slim 540s and the options for in-case psu's are slim to none. Any help will be appreciated.

Well, you can get something like this: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/ [...] Cable.html
and even ask some friends for some old psu and just put it in your case or (abstract) outside your case;)

thanks for the link...what I would like to do is get rid of the 250w that came w/ this comp and step up to a 550w...problem is that nothing fits this case....sure, I could buy a new case, transfer everything,so on.....Im trying to work w/ what I have, not spend alot of extra cash, thats why Im asking about external power. Thanks again.

External will be fine as long as you have the length of cabling required. it would make th pc run cooler as well

Thanks...my common sense told me the same thing but in the world of computing nothing that is sensible works. I just wanted the opinion(s) of some who most likely know more than me in the field of modding/building comps. Thanks for the feedback.
