The 4890 (like the gtx275) will likely be faster, specially given it is overclocked (it would be touching stock 285 level performance, though not quite).

Try looking at newegg.ca, ncix.com, and canadacomputers.com; they are generally cheeper than tiger in canada, depending on the brand and particular sales at any given time.

how about of i look at the overclocked version of the gtx280

and also witch one would work better whit the
motherboard ASUS P6T
http://www.canadacomputers.com/ind [...] cid=MB.303

the board supports SLI and CrossFireX so later on i will not have problems because of that

i posted the link from tiger because it had the lowes prices for these 2 Video cards

and because the Video cards will be picked up from the store and not online

Go with the 4890, definitely. Better performer for only a slightly higher cost.

Why are people recommending a 30 dollar more 4890 when the GTX 280 performs about the same if not better?

Both cards are oced also that only a 900Mhz oc it's not a 1k oc.

Also last time i checked for workstation cards at least 3ds max is a nvidia favored app, at least for the workstation card :)

4890, the 280 is discontinued and if you want to sli later on, you wont find one new. Your choice should be GTX 275/285 or 4890.

Yes that is the only reason why i would go with 4890 it be easier to find a new 4890 a year from now then a gtx280. But i mean if you have no intention of doing so GTX280 cheaper and just, if not more powerful

Reasons to go with the Radeon HD 4890:
1. DirectX 10.1 support
2. Lower power consumption than GTX 280
3. Perfected 55nm manufacturing process
4. I said so lol
