I bulit this computer a while back(2.5 years ago) and there was something always wrong with my front headphone/mic jacks. When i put in any kind of imput the PC just shuts off the very second it hits the socket. I checked the wiring twice and it seems to be fine...

are you sure that the lead to the mb[ or sound card ] is plugged in correctly?

ya I think its in right. I have plugged into the motherboard the name on the lead is the same as the one I have it plugged into.
