Hi all,

I'm just put together a computer for the first time.

I benchamrked it at stock settings, and then ran the ASUS auto-tune OverClock, and I'm planning to try manual OC'ing and compare all three results.

When I compared the first two I got these numbers out of PCMark Vantage (trial version only, so I don't have the data from the HDD Suite)
http://3dmark.com/compare/pcmv/421338/pcmv/422265

and it looks like the OC has consistently decreased the HDD scores?

Is this to be expected, and if so why?
If not, then I have I done somethign stupid somewhere,a dn can anyone guess what?

Yes.

Well, I changed the BIOS Settings to ACHI before I installed the OS, which sounds pretty similar. I did so because I was informed that it would make the Drive more responsive, and in particular decrease boot times.

Since you asked, I'm guessing that this setting explains the difference? If so, can you point me at some specific material to look at, or will it come up in a general Google search?

Thanks,
Brondahl

Doh!

Sorry, I've never heard of it, and I just assumed you were talking about a perticular setting. My bad.

I'll go look it up.
