I would suggest getting another 9800gtx because together they can outperform a GTX280 really easily lol, i am not sure about a GTX285. However at that resolution, any setup, the SLI9800GTX, GTX280, and GTX285 can easily max out crysis no problem. Therefore I suggest going for the cheapest solution being getting another 9800gtx and making them SLI which would be your best choice.
-However in crysis 25-30fps is very smooth buddy, even at 20fps, it feels like 30+ so you shouldn't feel lag, I really don't know why you want more speed??????????????????????????????. But anyway 9800gtx SLI is your best bet, but beware, it might be cheap and it might look awesome in your case, SLI has its cons.
Exactly my point I think 9800gtx SLI would be the cheapest/most powerful setup which is the best combination. MAKE SURE YOUR POWER SUPPLY CAN SUPPORT THESE CARDS before buying, this is very important so dont forget .
Wait before you buy a power supply, please do yourself a favor and spend an extra few dollars and buy a coolermaster or OCZ powersupply. I can tell you if you buy a bad/cheapish powersupply you will put your entire system at risk of shirt circuiting and cooking itself or the powersupply will die and wont work properly, so my recommendations are "coolermaster" and "OCZ" brands for powersupply, there are ofcourse other very good brands, those are just mere suggestions.
Thank you so much um BlueScreenDeath? oh no I hope not.
whats this
Downgraded to:
1.5GHz Intel Celeron M
512mb RAM
Thank you!
Yep, I've decided to sell parts of my main rig. So for the next couple of months, I'll be using
a 4 year old HP laptop with a 1.5GHz processor.
Takes forever to load up firefox XD
I had an E8400 and two 9800GTXs in SLi without any problems (before I decided to downgrade )
Just OC your CPU if you want to squeeze a lil more performance out of it. The Q9650 is NOT worth it since it is overpriced. If you want a quad, get a cheaper quad and overclock it.

zerk, dont know if you know this or not, but make sure that if you buy the second 9800 gtx+, that your old one is a + too, since having a 9800 gtx and 9800 gtx+ will not SLI together. not trying to say you dont know this or something, just in case, i dont want you making the same mistake i almost did, hehe
^that's a good point. I know someone who almost ordered an 8600 and an 8800 due to some kind of typo . I'd really recommend the two 9800 GTX+ cards - I'm running a pair myself and they do really well on most stuff (can't comment on a few games since my PSU tends to crash SLI in certain apps - looking into upgrading to a singe 12V rail model). They'll definitely beat the single card, plus it's less money.
i dont have SLI. i am pulling a 9800 gtx+ and placing in a BFG Geforce GTX 280 OCX the gtx280ocx is nearly the same as the gtx285. in performance anyway.

Hay thank you for your concern!
I could be wrong but I thought the 9800GTX KO/+ was just a 9800GTX OC'ed?
And long as its a 9800GTX it doesn't matter the Clock speed,Right?

That is incorrect. I have/had a XFX 9800GTX (65nm 675 mhz) SLied with a PNY 9800GTX+ (55nm 738 mhz) and it worked perfectly.

Thank you guy so much!
There is so much good help here!
Thanks!
Nvidia's website states that the GTX and GTX+ will SLi without any problems whatsoever.
9800GTX can SLi with the 9800GTX and 9800GTX+ but NOT GTS250
9800GTX+ can SLi with the 9800GTX and 9800GTX+ and GTS250
GTS250 can SLi with the GTS250 and 9800GTX+ but NOT 9800GTX

About the quad, core I would not recommend it because your processor is very very good to begin with, i mean it isn't a beast but it definitely would not bottleneck you in any way so don't worry about getting another processor. also, most games don't even recognize and don't take advantage of a quad/four core processor.
Also, +1 Hawk I also us the E8400 and it handles everything I can throw at it. I’m running @ 4.02 on air ( 24hour prime stable ). The E8400 running @ 4.0 is a monster. I definitely recommend staying with your current CPU.

Yup, I subscribed with nvidia to update me on their new stuff. The 300series are coming out soon, in some months from now so yeah, not to much information about is around quite yet though.
