Drive spinning but not recognized

I use to use seagate 7200.9 500gb with usb to sata adopter. I have used this derive for backup and it has always been used as a usb drive.

Connect the drive (including the power supply) and see if it is seen in Disk Manager. If it is seen, then the drive might be going bad. If not, the adapter could be at fault.
