exact board, or else the bios compat will not say what we can recommend.

also you can search the mobo manuf website for this info, maybe pick something out of the list to see.

err, that thing may not be a good one to upgrade.... Ph I are known as junk relative to C2D and C2Q, and the Ph II are a much better alternative, but the Ph II x3 is listed as beta...

esp weird since asus do not have a list of compatible CPU for this mobo....

if you flash bios to latest version you can easily pop in a phenom II x4 940 however, the asus website is not listing it. It is possible with latest bios; also the m3a board wont say but it does support over 95W processors its just the m3a board was listed as 95W board to act as Asus green board but it can support past 95W I am going to upgrade mine from a amd x2 5000+ to a 550 until I can replace my board later. If asus releases another bios update when the 965 comes out I am gonna try to see if that one works. Hope this helps.

so with the 1104 bios i just updated to it will see and use a AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor Model HDZ955FBGIBOX - Retail ?
or can u hotlink something from newegg or similar vendor that i can easily pop in to replace ?
also will i notice if any speed difference?

Since you have an AM2+ board, just save yourself a little money and possible headache and get the Ph II 940. Since the 940 is an AM2+ chip you are most likely going to have a better chance of compatibility than with the 955.

it looks like you'd be able to drop in a phenom 2 x4 since the beta (suposedly) allows for the phenom 2 x3. If I were you, I'd call asus tech support and talk to someone there. Otherwise, everyone here (unless they have that exact board and have tried it themselves) is just guessing... it's easy to guess with someone else's money... just ask the government. :)
