Aftermarket cooler for a 8800GTS?

Hey people, I have a gigabyte 8800GTS 320MB and it has a serious over heating problem. I posted a thread on here asking about the heat problem and got no where. But someone did mention I should buy a after market heat sink for my card, so I'm asking if you can recommend a good cooler for my card?

When I googled my graphics card heat problem, they said it was normal to have the card sitting something like 60-70C(Normal for a 8800GTs). The problem with that is its heating up my computer. I've tired turning the fan speed up but nothing. Also I've tried cooling applying some fresh paste and still nothing.

  1. Those are normal temps...What kind of case are you using? If your case doesn't have good airflow i'd recommend getting a new case that has good air flow instead of buying a gpu cooler...you can get a new case with good airflow anywhere from $70-$100..A new gpu cooler would cost you about $50 depending on what brand...Those area actually good temps while gaming but if your worried about it heating up your computer maybe getting a after market cpu cooler or a new case...Even my 4850 ran hotter then your graphics card, it was running at 85c if not hotter for over a year or more and i decided to change my thermal compound on it and now it's at 75c while gaming...
  2. Thanks for the reply. Maybe I should get a new case with decent air flow. The case I have is unbranded, and doesn't have the best ventilation.

yeah you should imo...the cooler master 690 or lancool pc k62 are two good ones for a decent price...

plus it's not worth spending a vga cooler on a olds graphics card...you can find a better graphics card then that for $100 bucks if not cheaper..
  4. ^ Good cases, but I'd get a HAF 912 for the same price.

If they are out of your budget range, get the Rosewill Destroyer: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147144&Tpk=Rosewill%20Destroyer

    $40 after promo code EMCKHHH44, ends 2/28
  5. Edit: Pull the side of your case, blow a fan on high into the case. If your temps go down, you need to address airflow. If they stay the same, you have an issue with the cooler.
