I am in the market for a new video card and wanted to pick up an ATI 4870, 1GB. It looks like Saphire, HIS, Diamond, and ASUS are the more popular manufacturers of these video cards, but is one really any better/different than another? I had a hard time finding a good, objective website that compares and rates these same model video cards by different manufacturers.
All things being equal I'm strongly leaning towards either the HIS Hightech H487QT1GP (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161265) or the SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon (which is a 2GB card, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 814102826) but I really don't know if I should stick with or avoid any particular company.
Thanks!
try XFX, they have the best warranty and usually include games with their graphics cards.
but other than those factors and also overclocks, sometimes non-reference coolers and PCB's, there are no differences between them. And 2GB vram cards at the 4870's level of performance doesn't make any difference to 1GB vram cards.

Thanks for the info Helloworld, I've actually done a bit more research on the 2GB model and it looks like (at this point) only a very few games can get any benefit out of the extra 1GB of ram on the vid card, so it might not be worth it at this time. Of course that doesn't mean that more and more games in the short term might not start using it, but for the here-and-now it doesn't sound like it's really worth the extra $40 or so it cost.
