Pata to sata

Hello,i want to upgrade my system to a 1tb hard drive which is a sata connection when my system as only a pata connection?

You'll have to buy a PATA drive that's it, even if you could buy and adapter there'd be no performance improvement as it'd be painfully bottlenecked by the PATA interface.

Buy either an adapter based on a Marvell chipset, or a PCI or PCI-e SATA controller card based on a Silicon Image chipset. The former is easier for Windows XP because no driver has to be installed.
