My i7 D0 stepping idles around 42-43'C at stock 2.66GHz. I have the Mugen2 cooler installed with the room temperature at around 78'C-80'C.

I ran prime95 for 20minutes and it hit a high of 72'C.

Is this normal?

Did I screw up the HSF installation by using a bit too much thermal paste? (I used MX2, spread a thing layer on the cpu itself and a tiny rice sized grain on the heatsink plate...maybe that was a bit too much?)

Or is this because my room temperature is a bit high?

What's your room temperature and why do you keep it a bit high?
