Yes, the 9600GT is a pretty decent card for the prices it's going for right now. It's more powerful then the 9600GSO, HD4670 and a bit less powerful then the HD4830, HD4770, 9800GT, GTS250. If you're not a rabid gamer it will be fine at 1440x900 resolution for most games.

9600GT < 9800GT ~ 4830 < 4770 < 4850 ~ 9800GTX/GTX+/GTS250

Get the 4830 since it is actually cheaper but better.

The 4770, 4850, and 9800GTX/GTS250 are all better and only slighly more expensive

actually I have this card in my pc, just wanted to know that can this run games to be released in the future. I was thinking to upgrade to a dx 11 card when they hit the market, I run all my games @ 1440x900 smoothly with this. even on vista with dx10 playing farcry 2 on dx10 @ 1440x900 with ultra settings.

You'll be fine for awhile, always put off upgrading a graphic card for as long as it can handle what you want to play. With new graphic cards coming out every few months there's always a better card coming down the pipeline and prices for the last "best/awesome/fantastic" card drop to more affordable levels.
