PC only boots up partway

My PC has suddenly decided to stop it's boot up about half way through. The windows screen comes up and it shows it's progress then just "freezes" at a certain point. I am able to boot fully in safe mode but can't seem to find what the issue is with booting up in normal mode. I built this baby about 8 years ago and have only had to replace a few parts since then. I am running windows 2000 pro. thanks in advance.

Boot to safe mode, edit registry to turn on verbose mode, see what windows is stuck at.
