hi dear tom's hardware-i hav read about overclocking not a good expert in that.....can u tel me how to overclock my amd phenom cpu ..currently running with 2.3ghz (system specs-amd phenom 9650(2.3 ghz) asus m3a78-em motherboard.pls tel how to increase the speed.i dont hav an extra cooling for my cpu. but about 2.6 to 2.8 ghz would be great

Hi and welcome to Tom's forum.

If your read well, overclock with stock cooler isn't recommended because those coolers are just enough for stock speeds.

Now, the 1st Phenom series isn't a good overclocker series. You can try with the FSB, but keep in mind that change that value also change your DRAM frequency, NB frequency and HT frequency.

A better option could be a new CPU Phenom II line, that is much better for overclock.
