I am contemplating to upgrade to a better computer, but with a very tight budget, i would like to see if i could upgrade my current desktop. I am planning to pretty much cannibalize my desktop, take what ever i could and then purchase newer & better components for better performance and maybe a little bit of overclocking without hurting my wallet
I got my desktop form Walmart and here are the specs:

Processor: 2.4GHz Athlon 64 3800+
Memory: 1GB DDR2
Storage: 160GB hard drive
Optical Drives: Double-layer DVD±RW
Monitor: None
Graphics: Integrated nVidia GeForce 6100/nForce 430 MCP
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Basic

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions other than purchasing a new computer. Thanks Brian

I assume you already know ram is one of the cheapest and quickest ways to increase performance, and depending on your psu, a better graphics card should overall increase performance. As for your cpu, since your chipset is based on AMD, and the fact that im not familiar with AMD i cant help you there. Intel is where i belong lol =)
