What is the best AR for gaming...16:9 or 16:10?

It seems to me that the 16:10 designed monitors are going out of style in favor of 16:9 for movie content playback. I've read that 16:10 is preferred for gaming over 16:9. Could someone clarify this? I'm being boxed in by the manufacturers by their "let's get rid of all our 16:10 models and replace them with 16:9" attitude.

Why are 16:10 models widely being discontinued in favor of 16:9 aside from watching movies? It's annoying and limiting my selection. Does it really matter? Should I be looking for anything specific in order to have an enjoyable PC gaming experience? I've considered 22" for the size and 16:10 for the AR, as my current 19" samsung has a 16:10 AR. Any constructive input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

well, companies know that the more media friendly devices are then the more people will buy them because they want that. Also because more people use consoles for gaming than PC's and consoles output in a 16:9 AR.
