I use an Audigy in a XP-System and finally acquired 5.1 Speakers recently.
Speakers are set to 5.1, Digital Output is off and the newest drivers are installed, but while some applications - VLC, ITunes, LotRO - work fine, others simply remain completely silent, including Creative Diagnostics. Media Player agreed to play sound only after I reinstalled K-Lite Codec pack.
CMSS is enabled, and EAX is simply there, I couldn't find anywhere to turn it off or on.
I'd be glad for any ideas regarding this problem

Nevermind, turned out that turning down hardware acceleration by two notches did the trick
