ID a 16-bit app on win XP start-up, out of memory

Hello,

How can I find out which program is trying to load? Have already max-ed out RAM to 2 GB. Have looked at Start-up DB but cannot pinpoint a 16-bit app.

Eventviewer doesn't seem to help. Mostly information, several warnings about dhcp and one error DCOM event ID 10005 involving iPod service.

How can I spot the 16-bit Windows app that was trying to load and ran out of memory?

Click start/run and type msconfig into the run box and click ok. Go to the startup tab. You can uncheck a few of these at a time and reboot each time until you find the culprit via process of elimination.

You can also try F8 at boot (like safe mode), but choose enable boot logging and check the ntblog.txt file.

Tried the F8 bootlogging route. Mostly loading and not loading drivers - .sys files. Will try selective startup programs next.

Selective startups did it. msinf16 was the culprit.
