Name TOSHIBA CD/DVDW SD-L622A

I have this CD/DVD installed on my laptop the CD plates says it is a CDRW but is the spec it is just shown as a TOSHIBA CD/DVDW SD-L622A, am I correct in saying that this CD will only read cds and not write to them?

Thanks for your response I will give it another try tomorrow and write down the message as so far I have had no luck in getting it to do anything else than read them.
