Laptop presario freezing

Hiya i have got an laptop presario v6500 that the screen kept going fuzzy on then locking up but this was because it kept overheating i have now cured the overheating problem by changing the heatsink but even thou it stays cool now the computer screen still randomly goes fuzzy and then freezes so i was wondering is there anyway i can tell weather its the cpu locking up or the gpu ? i think gpu because the fuzzy screen but not sure any advice would be helpful cheers tom

Most likely the GPU. When my XPS M1330 failed, the same thing pretty much happened. Good thing the laptop was still under warranty, as replacing the motherboard (the GPU chip is soldered to it) would've been pretty expensive otherwise.
