NVidia Media Shield SMART error array OK

I have an nVidia Media Shield RAID 5 array running on a Supermicro MB H8DAE-2. The SMART function in Bios reports one of the array disks as BAD. When I F10 to go to RAID configuration the array shows to be in good shape.

When I open nVidia Media shield software the Configuration view shows the drive failing. I have a free disk in the computer and the notes I had read indicate that when the drive finally fails fully the RAID 5 array should rebuild on the free drive without any action on my part.

If this assumption is not correct, how do I get the failed drive out of the array and the new drive in?

Pull the cable out and connect a new HDD, start the rebuild? You don't have to wait for it to actually fail.
