I've an ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard Motherboard. Now I'm looking for a HDMI/HDCP enabled card to connect my PC to my HDTV. So I believe I've to buy a PCI Express 2.0 card - I understand there are other options such as dvi-to-hdmi options, but am looking for a video card upgrade

Would PCI Express 2.0 card work with a PCI Express x16 motherboard ?

Thanks.

Yes, they are backward compatible, you'll have no problem.

I have a Asus P5B-deluxe / E6600 / sapphire radeon x1950xt 512mb 256bit ,setup that is a few years old. I think my board is pci-e 1.0. It doesn't specify. I'm a light mmo gamer.

1) can I use new pci-e 2.0 cards? if only some, which ones?

if so, from what I've read there will be a data transfer bottleneck between 1.0 and 2.0 rates

2) considering the bottleneck, will a new card perform any better than the x1950xt 512mb?

should i just wait until I get another computer, probably another couple years for me.

thanks :hello:

The PCI-E 1.0 bus will not bottleneck you, however if you get a high-end GPU your CPU may hold you back slightly. I would say go for GTS250/9800GTX or HD4830/4850.
