My maxtor one touch III mini is 50% fragmented and I cannot defrag it. What do I do next to recover the fragmented files?

Fragmented just means the files are all over the platter in your HDD instead of being neatly lined up. You shouldn't have issues getting the "fragmented" files.

Are you having trouble recovering the files?

Can u transfer some large files to other drive create more room (if u have 100GB than 10GB free is a good idea to have so the system has room to move the fragmented files around.), than defrag.

U can use this Auslogics Disk Defrag, its free and it is more efficient than the one build in the windows.

Ok. Can you cut down on the caps?

ANyways, try this out:

It's a free software recovery program.

If you still can't recover the files - I would suggest just formatting the drive, if that's not even possible, you drive might be gonners.
