After I put everything together and powered it up everything looked fine. Temps in upper 30s C in BIOS fans spinning and everything seemed normal. So I go to install the OS and this where my problems are.

No matter what OS I try to install it hangs somewhere during the install process. xp32/vista64/win7RC1 64. Ubuntu 8.04 64 hanged on the live cd boot. I have switched out the the optical drive to 3 differnt ones. My drive(which I know is messed up due to recently failed burn verifications) didnt work. I switched out the burner to my friends burner from a machine I built in 2008. Reburned the linux cd with it and used the different burner in the x3 machine and still the same result. I am currently downloading and burning memtest( Cant to seem to find it in my stacks of cdr/dvdrs). Going to run that on the amd machine. Also thinking about hooking up the hdd from the amd system to my machine to format/check for errors. This has been driving me nuts since yesterday. Its a real pain because I only have one monitor/key&mouse/burner and have to keep switching back and forth.

I would boot the Ubuntu CD and select the "check memory" option at the loading screen. Your RAM could be bad if you get random errors while installing OSes.

Thats what I'm going to do and see what happens. Also going to run memtest overnight. After about 30 times of trying various OS's It finally installed vista64 but its very very unstable with all the lastest drivers installed. Looks like this Ram will be RMA'd. If its not the ram then I'm really clueless.

If something will run but isn't stable, RAM is always a culprit. It may not even be bad- it may just be running at improper timings, speeds, or voltages. If you have anything overclocked, set it back at stock as overclocking is probably the worst culprit for erratic behavior. Overheating is #2, although your temps look fine. Power supply issues can cause subtle errors as well, but you have a good quality PSU that's plenty large and new, so that should not be a problem for you. I'd stick with running a few passes of Memtest.

yeh, what ^ said, it could be bad voltages and timings, if there are specifications for the ram on the packaging, set the ram in the bios to those specifications, if that dosent work, try inserting the sticks 1 by 1 , if that dosent work, get new ram

The ram passed 6 passes of memtest. Anybody know how to enable to the voltage tweaking on this board. I see it in the BIOS but its grey'd and I cant change it.
