Does not installing updates slow down your computer? Or cause problems? I just restored everything and i'm having problems downloading patches for world of warcraft.

You need to check your firewall settings, both software and hardware, to make sure the updater has access to the internet and the ports it uses are open, as WoW patches use mostly P2P to download.
