Hello everyone,

Im working on an i7 build at the moment. Problem is I cant decide between the gtx 285 or the gtx 295. I wont be doing it right away but in the end I plan to do SLI no matter which card I end up going with. Deciding between these has been very difficult due to mixed reviews, and the fact that I cant seem to find any that focus specifically on a comparison between these two cards. Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me. I know a 295 will beat a 285, but will a 295 beat 2-way SLI 285's? And also how does quad SLI with the 295 compare in performance with 3-way SLI with the 285's?

Any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Assumign you are gonna be getting a massive monitor (otherwise you are blowing money out the window, but it is not my money so go nuts)

3 285's will wipe the floor with 2 295's. 2 285's will wipe the floor with 1 295. This is true in all cases and specially at higher reolutions where teh frame buffer comes into large play.

The 295 has issues at 30" resolutions due to memory choking.. That being said even with these diminishing returns at 30" it is still the king of single and double slot configs. You wont find any 2 cards faster than 2 295's, and you won't find and single card faster than a 295.. Though you get a lot less bang for your buck at 30" res with a couple 295s when compared to 2 285's... and 3 285's are unmatched at high resolution (well.. 3 4890's oc'd are close).

Hope that helps
