HD Failure

Hello,
My Western Digital 1.5 TB external HD seems to have a serious problem. it spins a few times then gives up .

Model name: Elements
Model number: WDBAAU0015HBK

(basically "Green Caviar" internal disk # WD15EADS with a 32MB Cache mounted inside a black closure)

Neither Win 7 or Vista can read the drive. Vista sometimes displays the name as "WD" , that's all.

WD Lifeguard Diagnostics does not see the drive.


I have tons of files on the disk,

Any suggestions on how to rescue them?

Have you tried taking the disk out of the enclosure and putting it into your tower as a slave? See if you can get data off it then?
