Hey guys! Im new to this forum. I need a little help on deciding the best Sound Card for my PC. I need it for lots of gaming and little bit of music. Here is the config of my PC:

Phenom II X4 940BE
Biostar TA790GXB A2+
4GB GSkill RAM
HD4890
PSU:VX550

I will be using normal h/ps and i may buy SteelSeries 5H V2. My budget is some 100$. I can stretch it a little bit if the card is really worth.

Since i live in India, we've got only Creative and ASUS companies over here. So please recommend from them.

Thanks....

Creative fatal1ty has lots of other models in itself. Which one?

You wont need a soundcard for either of those headsets, the onboard will do fine for those.

Still i wanted a sound card because those head phones wont be useld all the time and also i need a little bit music. Onboard won't do a good job in that.

TRUST ME...you wouldn't want to make the same mistake I made. Do yourself a favor and stay away from CREATIVE SOUND CARDS and purchase yourself a HT-OMEGA card. They already blow Creative cards clear out of the water and are arguably the best sound card to purchase today. They take up very few resources and there's not much to install during the set-up.
I highly recommend either of these:

Purchase one now and thank me later...

HT-Omega, unfortunately isn't available in my country.

But i have decided, im going for XtremeGamer. There is no other good option.

ASUS Xonar DX or Auzentech Prelude.

The ExtremeGamer is old, and simply lacks the features of newer models. 192Khz playback, for instance, which is standard for every other vendor, has yet to be included for Creative cards. Never mind that Creative's drivers stink...

Both the Xonar DX and Prelude compete against the X-fi Fatality, which until the Titanium came out, was Creative's best card. Both would beat the stuffing out of the ExtremeGamer.

I know but my budget is not that high. I was thinking to buy Titanium, but it is expensive for my budget.

About ASUS Xonar DX, i read many reviews and most of them say that it is a good card but here is the catch, it actually fakes EAX 5.0. So i think i will better go for XtremeGamer. But still, i don't know. I might go for ASUS if Xtreme Gamer is expensive. Not Sure :(

Auzentech Prelude is not available in my country :( :( :(

I haven't had any issues with the EAX method ASUS uses; heck, it works in almost every game now, where Creative is limited to what Alchemy supports...

The DX goes for around the same price as the ExtremeGamer, but is by far a better card (its a no contest really). The lack of 'authentic' EAX is its only downside.

Hmmmm... what about that 3D positioning and stuff. I think it is called CMSS 3D.
