I currently own a dedicated server with a company and have a older Xeon Quad-core. The company I'm with (have been for a while has reduced my server price down to $169/mo for the Xeon. however, they have other quad-core servers for much cheaper prices:
the q8200 for $99/mo
and the q9400 for 139/mo.

now I'm not running much programs on it (Teamspeak, and couple server applications)
how does the Xeon fit in with the other 2 mentioned?

am i getting a deal? or a ripoff?

Well, it depends on the specific model of Xeon and what kind of code you are running. The 9400 will be faster for most tasks, but it does have less cache, and will be slower in some specific cases. The 8200 will be slower almost 100% of the time, but probably faster per dollar.

i dont think the server codes are really that resource hoggy.
would it be better for me (budget wise) to lower down to q8200?
