Help,How to overclock CPU 950 and memory

Hy guys,
CPU- Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz
MEMORY- CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
MOTHERBOARD- ASUS Rampage III Gene LGA 1366 Intel X58
I bought this configuration because i want to decrease the render time and i don't see much difference between the new one and my previus Core 2 Duo E7600 Wolfdale 3.06GHz.Also the motherboard recognizes the memory bus at 1066 Ghz.
That's why I decided to overclocking, after overclocking, from time to time the pc starts to load windows and suddenly the screen goes blue and then black.
So I think I did not overclock properly, . So I would greatly appreciate detailed instructions on what to do and how to overclok properly. What parameters do i need to put , especially in regard to the memory?
