Will the Q9550 work on a P5N-E SLI with the latest Bios? I am seeing threads that say different things.
The Asus Website says "LGA775 Socket Intel® Quad-Core/CoreTM Extreme/Pentium D /Pentium 4/Celeron CPU processors
Compatible with Intel® 06/05A/05B processors
Intel® EIST/EM64T/Hyper-Threading Technology/C1E/ TM1/TM2
Support Intel® next generation 45nm Multi-core CPU
* Please update the latest BIOS to support Intel 45nm CPU"

The Dual cores should work fine but you may encounter issues with the Quads.

There's no official support for 45nm Quads, but plenty of posts claiming that they do work.

I went ahead and got a Q6700 and it is running ok. I broke off pushpins on my Arctic Pro 7 cooler. They are the hardest things to get in. I am running ok on temps with 2 pushpins.
