I am planning on upgrading my PCs CPU, MB and RAM in the near future and am looking at AMD AM3 boards and CPUs for their good affordable performance. The only thing i cannot work out is whether an AM3 DDR3 board supports DDR2 Ram also. An example board is: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/171664. Any help would be appreciated as it obviously affects what RAM i buy and the overall budget.
Only board I know of with both types of ddr slots is a Jetway model, which I would avoid unless you're experienced and don't need any customer support. I would go with a ddr3 board if you need to purchase memory. Fry's has ddr2 and ddr3 priced the same in today's ad at $69.99 for 2x2gb kits, as low as anyone. Never put ddr2 in a ddr3 slot or vice-versa. You could damage the slot and each type uses a different voltage setting.
