I just got a new HP desktop w/Windows 7 OS with a single SATA internal drive. I just purchased an internal 2 TB Hitachi SATA to be used as data storage. Do I just connect the power and data cable and use Windows disk management to partition and format the drive? I am new to SATA and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom in Woodville

After its connected and you first power up go into the BIOS setup and make sure the new drive is properly detected before booting into Windows 7.

My problem is exactly what you are mentioning about.
My pc did not recognize the 2TB SATA hard drive I added on. I do not know how to change or update BIOS.
Please help

Is there a SATA power connector connected from the power supply to the 2TB hard disk drive?

Is the motor/platters/spindle in the 2TB hard disk drive spinning?
