Hi,

I have a Geforce 8200 mobo and a Phenom X3 8400 CPU (crap). For under $200 what CPU would give me the best gaming performance?

Mobo Details:

-AMD only, socket AM2/AM2+, supports AM3 back-compatibility
-dual/triple/quad
-Phenom/Phenom FX/Phenom II

For $200 or less, the Phenom II x4 940 would do a good job. The Phenom II x3 720BE would be a better value though. What video card do you have?

May not be a huge difference, but it's a BE (better overclocking).
