Computer: Sony VAIO VGC-LV290J/B - Awesome computer. But, the wireless keyboad and mouse absolutely suck. To clarify; the response is great...its the physical design that sucks rotten eggs.

I want an alternate keyboard/mouse and want to see if the RF device inside the computer will support an alternate device? I guess I could just go buy it and see...and if not return it, but prefer a little more information before I do that.

I doubt it. If you want, you can always get a wireless keyboard-mouse combo (Logitech's good) and plug it in via USB.
