Hey guys.....
After dealing with dry ice replacing the NB heatsinks etc etc, by board (780i ftw) finally dies when i switch the memory from one slot to the other.
Not sure what caused it, but yes im 100% positive it is dead.
So i am looking for a new mobo to go with my badass overclocking cpu.
I am looking for the hands down best overclocking mobo. Prefferably between $150 and $200.
I have heard good things about the rampage extreme but i am kinda lost as to what else is out there.
I'm not usually the one to recommend BIOSTAR products, but the TPower I45 serise is quite good under LN2. Also check out the Foxconn black OPS (Again, I usually don't recommend Foxconn either) : http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdo [...] =3366&p=10
From what i hear those chipsets SUCK under ln2 because they will burn out.
The biostar boards own when under ln2 but they also burn out really easily. Like i said i need a sponsor. Im thinking the asus rampage extreme is the way to go because if anything happens i can just put the stock heatsinks back on then send it back in to get an RMA.
In case you were wondering yes i am cooling the northbridge with ln2.

i see most heavy overclocking by pros on 775 socket done on an asus striker 2. best of luck to you and your 8500. be kind to it... precious to my heart that cpu is.
