Hey guys.....
After dealing with dry ice replacing the NB heatsinks etc etc, by board (780i ftw) finally dies when i switch the memory from one slot to the other.
Not sure what caused it, but yes im 100% positive it is dead.

So i am looking for a new mobo to go with my badass overclocking cpu.
I am looking for the hands down best overclocking mobo. Prefferably between $150 and $200.
I have heard good things about the rampage extreme but i am kinda lost as to what else is out there.

Thanks in advance.

or the striker II extreme for SLI support

it comes with a liquid cooling for the chipset, so you might not have to replace it, but its your choice

By the way i will replace the heatsinks on the board with custom so dont make that be why you decide one over the other.

I'm not usually the one to recommend BIOSTAR products, but the TPower I45 serise is quite good under LN2. Also check out the Foxconn black OPS (Again, I usually don't recommend Foxconn either) :

The BIOSTAR one doesn't brake the bank either:

1. Are you after overall top 3DMark score?
or
2. Are you after max clock speed?

Hmm Looks like you should step it up to a P4 if you want some real smoking clocks lol.

But man you are a couple of GHz behind on that core2 vs those others...

The problem with getting a new board other than the 780i is that you have to sacrifice either SLI or DDR2.

Reply to ragsters

From what i hear those chipsets SUCK under ln2 because they will burn out.

The biostar boards own when under ln2 but they also burn out really easily. Like i said i need a sponsor. Im thinking the asus rampage extreme is the way to go because if anything happens i can just put the stock heatsinks back on then send it back in to get an RMA.

In case you were wondering yes i am cooling the northbridge with ln2. [:lectrocrew:6]

I am going to use this pot:

you're very ambitious here

I just don't get why you don't want to try i7 records?

your budget will only go up by like $300 for the CPU

and people will pay more attention to i7 these days

Yeah my friends were saying the same thing, but i cant set any records with a non classified mobo and a i7 920

I am going to try to get an evga x58 classified from evga and a couple of there new cards(i cant tell you what they are, its a secret) for benching.

And maybe i can even get a i7 975 from them, if not ill get in touch with intel.

Yeah, im going to get vince to make me that pot.

I spent 170 bucks on a pot from bartx on OCN and i am spending $50 on the NB-1 because it is just so f'ing cheap!

Then i am going to buy a cryogenic hose and a phase separater from airgas for about $150

So total not counting the ln2 and dice i will spend $370

What about the hardware? This is pretty much a one way trip for motherboard/CPU.

The mobo was $170, the cpu was 190 but that wont burn out b/c there is no condensation in the socket.

When the mobo shorts out i am just going to rma it...i think i can get away with that (=

Need to get a sponsor sooner rather than later.....
