I have a grinding noise on startup then it usually fails to start up

my desktop is very diffisult to boot up, i invariably get a black screen telling me there is a problem causing shutdown there is also a grinding noise for a second and it usually clicks then goes through the whole start up again. just occasionally it will start. i recently had a new ethernet card installed as the old one was broken. also had a new phone socket installed for the ethernet to connect into. please help!!

Well, your ethernet card and phone socket won't make grinding noises - so it must be your hard drive ! :cry:

Sounds like you have a failed hard drive
