Softmode on HD4870 X2

I would like to ask some question abouth the softmodding. I bought myself new PC over a month ago (MB ASUS P6T Deluxe CPU i7-940 RAM 3xDDR3 2GB/1600MHz HYPERX KINGSTON HD4870 X2 Lian Li PC-B25B 6xSEAGATE Barracuda 7200.12 750G). I don’t play any games and actually bought it because I earned some extra money but I start to do some additional work on 3DS MAX at home and my question is – is there any sensible way to speed up my PC. I read about making gaming card to appear as workstation equivalent but I don’t have any experience in it. Can some one give me advise how to do that and most important – to tell me will I gain some real benefit.

First you would need a workstation equivalent, and there is no FirePro equiv for the HD 4870 X2. And I haven't heard of much success with the single HD4870 yet.

After that you would need to hack the drivers and/or BIOS to make it work.

There are threads out there for Softmoding a Radeon card, I haven't moded mine in a while, but here's one to help you start your quest.....
